Answer: The answers are Manthan, the film by Shyam Benegal, co-written by Dr. Verghese Kurien & Benegal, and screenplay by Vijay Tendulkar, which was released in 1976. This was based on the White Revolution or Operation Flood, which pioneered the concept of co-operative production, storage and distribution, and was responsible for changing the lives of millions of people in India, as well as, abroad! Dr. Kurien got the 500,000+ members of the GCMMF to contribute Rs. 2 each for the film and thus it became the first film, not produced by the traditional studio/producers path.
