Here are the answers to the Quiz of the Week - 1st Week April 2016

1. Identify the lady, who was the very first footballer of Indian origin to have represented England at any level.

Answer: Amanprit "Aman" Kaur Dosanj is a former English football goalkeeper. In playing for England U-16s, she became the first British Asian footballer, of either gender, to represent England at any level.


2. This Midfielder of Indian origin started of his career with Leicester City FC and was part of the team from 2009 to 2011, although he never made an official appearance for the club. Currently, he plays for Torquay United, on loan from Kidderminster Harriers. Identify him.

Answer: The player is Aman Kumar Verma. Verma started his career at Leicester City in their youth academy and was contracted to them for 2 years. However, he failed to break into the first team squad and was eventually released. His only showing for City was as a substitute in a 4–3 League Cup win over Macclesfield on 10 August 2010.




3. This Defensive Midfielder is a full international for his country of residence and is nicknamed as his country's "Iniesta". He has plied his trade in the top division clubs of The Netherlands and Denmark, apart from his home country and has also scored some spectacular goals from distance. Identify him.

Answer: Harmeet Singh, whose parents were born in Jalandhar, Punjab, is a Norwegian international footballer and has made 7 international appearances since 2012.


4. Probably the best of the lot at the current moment, he is a versatile Winger, who can play both at the right or the left flank. He is also a full international for one of the best international teams, but had to miss the last FIFA World Cup due to an injury. Currently, he plays for Dutch Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven. Identify him.

Answer: Luciano Narsingh, who was born in Amsterdam. His grandparents were contract workers from India who were taken to work on plantations in Suriname. His older brother, Furdjel Narsingh, also plays professional football. He has scored 4 times for the Dutch National Team till date.

5. He is an English professional footballer of Indian origin who plays as a Defender for League Two club Mansfield Town. He began his career with Walsall and had loan spells with Evesham United and York City. Identify him.

Answer: Malvind Singh Benning started his career with Walsall progressing through the youth system. After playing non-league football, in April 2012, he was offered his first professional contract by Walsall on a one-year deal.

Quiz of the Week - 1st Week April 2016

After a really long hiatus, I'm back with a new set of questions. This set consists of 5 questions, themed on Footballers of Indian origin. You need to identify the players.

So, here we go.

Ahh! The first post of 2013! Unfortunately, due to real life work pressure, the posts have become totally irregular and it may continue for this month too. However, the very first question for the newest year comes up now.

The emblem, depicted in the picture on the right hand side, is owned by an entity, which has been the matter of dispute between two other sides for at least, the last 180 years approximately. The fissures between the sides have erupted periodically and the most recent one has been seen in very recent times.

The photo collage points to a serial killer, who was very active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The killer's identity is still unknown.

During his reign of terror, the killer's victims included 5 confirmed dead and 2 injured, with the killer claiming to have killed at least 37 persons. His area of operation included the states of California and possibly, Nevada.

Answer: The answer is The Zodiac KillerThe Zodiac murdered victims in Benicia, Vallejo, Lake Berryessa and San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969. Four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29 were targeted. The killer originated the name "Zodiac" in a series of taunting letters sent to the local Bay Area press. These letters included four cryptograms (or ciphers). Of the four cryptograms sent, only one has been definitively solved.
