Here's a simple question to start the daily quiz for the new month.

This Indian state is on a latitude that also passes through Northern Rajasthan. Over 80% of its area is under the cover of forests. Out of these, over 12% of the forest cover constitute Protected Area Network in the state.

Answer: Not a single correct entry! That's strange for such an easy question.
Anyway, the answer is Arunachal Pradesh. Some trivia about the state. China claims part (sometimes even the entire state) as part of what they call South Tibet. The Dalai Lama, prior to his asylum in India, had also considered Tawang and the adjoining areas as part of South Tibet. The state has the lowest population density in the country and the forest covers in the state have actually been increasing over the years. During the Indo-China war of 1962, Chinese PLA had occupied parts of Arunachal Pradesh, then known as NEFA. Jawaharlal Nehru had bid adieu to the North Eastern states of India in an emotionally charges speech over All India Radio. But, as the PLA had advanced deep in to India, their supply lines had been stretched to the extreme and hence they decided to retreat to the pre-war positions.

Answer: Anonymous is almost correct.
This painting by Francis Hayman depicts the scene after the Battle of Plassey, when Mir Jafar meets a victorious Robert Clive, ostensibly to congratulate each other on a conspiracy well executed. The battle took place in the year 1757 at Plassey, near Murshidabad, the then capital of the Bengal Sultanate. Although, the British East India Company's army were hopelessly outnumbered at 3000 against 35,000, due to a secret pact between the British and Siraj's lieutenants, led by Mir Jafar, Nawab's forces were routed and Siraj had to flee from the battlefield. Mir Jafar, then ascended the throne with support from Clive. For his treachery, even today, Mir Jafar is a reviled figure. In Bengali language, the moniker "Mir Jafar" is synonymous with a treacherous person.

It is Buddh International Circuit promoted by Jaypee Group and operated by their subsidiary Jaypee Sports International Ltd.
The circuit was designed by Herman Tilke. The clockwise circuit employs the Graywacke surface, has a total track length of 5.137 km and 16 turns.

Answer: Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately caught a heatwave and hence the delay.
Indeed, the answer is Savitri Khanolkar, who had designed the Param Vir Chakra, the highest military award for gallantry in the presence of the enemy. It can be awarded posthumously too. Incidentally, the very first awardee, Major Somnath Sharma, was the elder brother of Mrs. Khanolkar's son-in-law Lt Gen Surinder Nath Sharma.

Like many others, he also came to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood and acted in Jugnu, a Dharmendra-Hema Malini starrer & Anjaan Rahen along with Firoz Khan & Asha Parekh. But, we don't know him for his acting prowess and his claim to fame is due to his current profession, in which he deals with many high profile criminals. Identify the person.

His (in)famous clients included Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi, Suspected perpetrators of Gulshan Kumar's Murder & Ajmal Kasab.

Answer: Mr. K. G. Badlani has the unique distinction of serving as the Prime Minister of the Free State of Dadra & Nagar Haveli for one day.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli was liberated from Portuguese Rulers by people themselves on 2nd August 1954. They established Free Administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Mr. Badlani was sent by the Govt. of India to act as the Administrator. After Goa was liberated, Mr. Badlani was accorded the status of Prime Minister for a day, so that he could sign the instrument of accession with the then Indian Prime Minister Nehru as an equal. On completion of these formalities, the territory was finally merged in to Union of India in the year 1961.
