Answer: Ali is absolutely right.
And, I am only copy-pasting his answer from the comment section below.
Its Reichenbach Falls. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had set the falls as the location of the final fight between Sherlock Holmes with his greatest opponent, Professor James Moriarty in his story, The Final Problem. Apparently, both of them had died in the fight, but as it turned out later, Holmes had managed to vanquish his opponent in the fight to the death.

Negro American League baseball
Answer: Indianapolis Clowns were the last of the functioning professional baseball teams from the Negro American Leagues era. While still fielding a legitimate team, the Clowns also toured with several members known for comic acts - sort of a baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters, including Joe "Prince" Henry. After the decline of the Negro Leagues, the team continued operations on barnstorming tours and the Clowns finally disbanded around 1988.

The Clowns were also the first professional baseball team to hire a female player. Toni Stone played second base with the team in 1953.

We look up an old archive for the day's question.
daily aircraft quiz answer
The photo, on the right hand side, is one of the few real ones to have survived the attack of the time. There have been other, more fanciful, clearer and obviously forged photographs of the same aircraft, which have been doing the rounds in the Internet groups and hoax mails, and are described as the ideal vehicle to fight and destroy the Nazi UFO Fighters. The aircraft was designed around 1931 and it was lost during one of the test flights. It's designer was murdered as he fell out of favour with Joseph Stalin during the great purge.

quiz 1 october 2012 question answer
Answer: The answer is Kalinin K-7, designed by Konstantin Kalinin. It was supposed to be a heavy aircraft, capable of carrying 120 passengers in civilian configuration, while taking on the role of a heavy bomber in military configuration. However, the only prototype crashed killing all people on-board. In 1938, Kalinin was executed as an Enemy of the State. In recent years, Internet e-mail hoaxes have surfaced claiming the K-7 to be the largest aircraft built till date. In the photos, the K-7 is shown fighting even more bizarre samples of aircraft  like a Nazi Flying Saucer.

Quiz of the Day - 30 September 2012

Back with a question for the day.
daily quiz with answer 30 september 2012
The kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh's infant son from his nursery riveted America and the world in 1932. Mr. Lindbergh's celebrity as an aviator prompted police and the FBI to conduct a big investigation and a ransom was ultimately paid. Sadly, the baby was later found dead, buried in the woods of New Jersey. The "Lindbergh kidnapping", as it has been referred to, has had a lasting affect on the global industry.

Quiz of the Day - 27 September 2012

Back for the daily quiz, which actually has turned in to erratic weekly quizzes. Thinking about changing the pattern, due to paucity of time.

Here's a question to keep the show going on. This gentleman, an acclaimed professional in his chosen field, holds a unique record, which is unlikely to be beaten by any Indian in future. He had passed away in 2005 at Kolkata. Identify him.

You can leave your answer as comments below the post. The comments and the answer will be published tomorrow.
Cheers!

Answer: He is Chintamoni Kar, a famous Indian sculptor. The unique record, held by him, dates back to 1948 London Olympics! He had entered the Summer Olympics as a competitor for Great Britain in the Art Competitions, under "Mixed Sculpturing, Statues" event, and had won the Silver Medal for his sculpture, titled "The Stag". 1948 was the last Olympics to feature the Art Competitions and the International Olympics Committee no longer recognizes the medals.
Kudos to Ali for answering this! A real great answer indeed! :)
